Disclaimer: I shot this wedding as a second photographer for Love Above. The images here were taken by me and are shared with permission.

Tommy and Sarah’s wedding in Warburton was an incredibly enjoyable one to photograph. It wasn’t a wedding I was even expecting to shoot until the day before when I got a call from a friend who told me he had a friend who needed a second photographer. It was incredibly last-minute stuff but having been unable to shoot a single wedding for a whole year thanks to covid, I took up the opportunity straightaway. Boy, I did not regret it!

Tommy & Sarah got ready in separate AirBnb’s on their wedding day.

Tommy & Sarah met through mutual friends and clicked immediately. It sounds cliché but Tommy describes meeting Sarah as a life changing moment. They bonded over movies and their love for sport. Tommy plays hockey and was the best and youngest player on his highschool team. Sarah played FIVE different sports, including cricket in highschool and was great at all of them!

It wasn’t long after they met that the two of them went out on dates and a few years into their relationship they had their daughter who was the flower girl on their wedding day. It took only 5 more years for Tommy to finalise propose to Sarah. To which Sarah (and their friends and family) said “it’s about time!”

Tommy & Sarah were incredibly easy-going and just went along with whatever the day presented. Nothing could let them down, not even the rain! They just had this joyous energy to them that made the whole experience so enjoyable to photograph. They were also full of surprises! Sarah learned how to carve out a ring and crafted Tommy’s ring by hand! Tommy vowed to not stop asking his bride to kill spiders because he’s scared! Haha!

The day started with Tommy & Sarah at their separate accomodation in Warburton. Sarah was getting ready with her family: parents, sisters - who were her bridesmaids and her daughter. Tommy got ready with his groomsmen just 5 minutes away. It felt like just any other day for them (in a good way!) just feeling relaxed like nothing could get in the way of them getting married.

After Tommy and his gromsmen were dressed, we moved to Warburton Redwood Forest to set up for the ceremony. If you haven’t been there before, it’s definitely worth the drive from Melbourne! The weather held up for the most part, with just short periods of slight drizzling which made for a pretty cold time!

It was a small ceremony with probably a less than a hundred people attending which made it really intimate and cosy. It felt like everyone knew each other and were either really close childhood friends or family. It was quite a short ceremony which was followed by a photoshoot in the forest and…by the river IN the forest (which I didn’t know existed). Anyways, here and some photos from the shoot…

After the shoot we made our way to the reception at Projeckt 3488 which is a unique little wedding reception venue in Warburton. It also has a great garden space at the back which makes for some great photos especially in the summer.

Tommy & Sarah’s reception was had the usual schedule: speeches, food, speeches and LOTS of dancing. If there’s one thing Tommy & Sarah know how to do, it’s to dance and dance hard. Sarah could dance in heels better than I could dance in runners. They probably, no, they definitely had the best moves I’ve ever seen at a wedding!

All in all, it was a really enjotable day. Tommy & Sarah were so much fun to be around and photograph. It felt like I was capturing photos of a friends’ wedding which is what I love being able to do.
